Two package bees were installed today in the orchard for the Life Science curriculum!!!! I've long awaited this day to start keeping bees here at the OEC! Two packages containing 4 pounds each of bees were purchased, each containing about 12,000 bees! Brian Guess, our OEC bee expert and friend guided me through the installation and shared in my excitement. I have to say, carrying that many bees and then installing for the first time felt more natural than other first experiences...it was so calming and I was so overjoyed!
I had to take a moment and just revel in the moment! It was absolutely amazing.
